Yi & Kevin’s NY Wedding at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers was the type of wedding you dream about. An early April day with crisp air and a perfect balance of sun and cloud coverage that makes us photo and video enthusiasts salivate. The day started out with both Yi and Kevin getting dressed at different parts of the Lighthouse. Once dressed, we had one of the flower girls act as the messenger to deliver the gifts they got for each other. We really enjoy filming gift exchanges and encourage our couples to do something on the wedding day – even if it’s just a card.

There’s an awesome deck that overlooks the hudson river right outside the Lighthouse. It was the perfect backdrop for our first look. We continued to take photos around the area until the cold was just a bit too much to handle. We finished up with some portraits inside, right outside the ceremony location.

One of the best things about Yi and Kevin’s day was their ceremony. We’ve mentioned this many times before on our site but we’re suckers for personal vows. There’s something magical about stating your own promises and beliefs in front of all your family and friends that makes them powerful. Yi and Kevin’s were perfect and made for an awesome segment in the film.

The second half of the day was spent enjoying delicious food and drinks and enjoying the day. It is for this reason I always suggest our couples do a first look. It frees up the day to enjoy with your guests, instead of worrying about creative photos and running from point A to point B before the cocktail hour is over.

Yi and Kevin’s first dance was incredible. Due to time constraints in the film, we were only able to show a few clips. But wow. They worked really hard on it and the time and effort paid off. Following that great dance, Lion Dancers put on a show for everyone. It was crazy! Each Lion was made up of two individuals who would walk, run, and jump as one. It was our first experience w/ something like this and we were so glad to have been there to witness it.

Overall this was such a fun wedding to be apart of. We couldn’t have asked for a better day for two better people. Yi and Kevin, we wish you nothing but happiness and love for many years to come!
