Jessica & Philip: The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers from Michael Justin Films on Vimeo.

When we reviewed the footage from Jessica and Philip’s NYC wedding, we couldn’t help but think, ‘damn! this looks amazing!’

We’d love to believe it was due to our great technical and creative abilities, but more likely was due to the good-looking and loving couple that is Jessica and Philip.

Jessica and Philip’s story started while working at NYU medical center. They were both assigned to the same practice and worked closely together while implementing a new system for patient care. Jessica developed a little crush on Phil and started calling him her boyfriend, only he wasn’t aware of it. On their last day of work, someone spilled the beans to Phil and told him what Jessica was saying. Good thing! It was the confidence Phil needed to ask her out on a date! The rest as they say, is history.

Their wedding planning was a bit of a roller coaster, having their venue change a few times due to circumstances out of their control. They ended up booking The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, a venue we’re very familiar with! The Lighthouse is amazing for many reasons, but the biggest draw for us is the large windows that line two of the four walls of the place. This allows for beautiful natural light. During a clear day, the sunsets and views are second to none. Jessica and Philip got one of the best days of the year and their sunset did not disappoint. Some of our favorite shots in the film are from the cocktail hour when the sunset was at its best.

Another beautiful element of their wedding was their ceremony at the Church of Saint Francis Xavier. There are so many old, fantastic churches that we’ve shot in, but this one may take the cake. Watch the film and see what we mean. High high ceilings, beautiful light, ornate masonry – it was incredible.

After an emotional first look in their hotel lobby, we headed to Washington Square Park to film the photo session. Another favorite shot of ours is the slow motion shot of Jessica and her bridesmaids blowing confetti at the camera. It was a great prop to bring along – great job Jessica! Unfortunately the Washington Square Park cleaning crew didn’t share in our enthusiasm 🙂

Another awesome moment that day (a bit of a theme here), was during Jessica and Phillip’s first dance. They had Marque Mesa play “Heaven” by Bryan Adams. The guy nailed it. He was incredible. Seriously. It was so good we might even post their first dance so you all can hear it!

It was fabulous working with our good friend and photographer Maggie Harkov – her ability to capture moments and make our couples feel comfortable is matched by very few.  It was a fantastic day filled with love, emotion, and great energy. We hope this wedding film always serves as a reminder of that. We wish Jessica and Philip a lifetime of happiness!
