Kurt and Justin are two amazing guys that love art, have great style, and enjoy throwing a good house party. When we arrived on their wedding day we were greeted with open arms and warm smiles by their family and friends. Kurt got dressed at their home while Justin opted for a suite at the Residence Inn in Hartford (which connects to the GFox Ballroom). Both had ample light and made for great portraits.
It was then off to City Hall for their first look, where we planned to have them see each other insdie. Unfortunately due to another wedding taking place at that exact time, we opted for outside in front of these really cool golden doors. It turned out better than we imagined since we had soft light and the doors and architecture of the building made for great photography.
We then walked through Burr Mall where a gay pride celebration was being held (the first in Hartford in many years). It was great to see supporters of all-love out and about and even cooler to have Kurt and Justin married that day. It was very fitting!
We made our way through downtown Hartford and stopped on Pratt street where we photographed Kurt and Justin next to Hartford Prints (who did their invitations) and had them walk the quaint sidewalk.
Finally we ended up at GFox, or Gershon Ballroom, where Kurt and Justin were having their ceremony and reception. The beauty of the building is it’s art deco style and intricate architectural details. We spent the majority of the photo session in the basement which complimented Justin and Kurt’s Gatsby-styled wedding.
We ended the photo session outside GFox where one of Kurt and Justin’s friends had their old school Chevy parked. He was kind enough to lend it to them for photos and we took advantage while we could!
The remainder of the night went off without a hitch and Kurt, Justin, and their closest friends and family watched as the two became partners for life. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception and we were honored to be apart of it. Kurt and Justin are now good friends and we can’t wait to celebrate their love again soon!
