Alyssa and Ed’s NY wedding photography story is a common one – on the day of their wedding they ran out of time and didn’t get to take photos at all the locations they had their hearts set on.
This is where we come in.
We call it a “bridal session,” where you play dress up and we play photographer. We take you around to those spots you wished you went to.
Alyssa and Ed now live in the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park, a beautiful building that has special meaning to my wife and I (I proposed not far from it back in 2010). After getting a few detail shots of their rings, Alyssa got her hair and makeup done while Ed got into his tux. Although already husband and wife, we tried to recreate their special day by having them change in separate rooms (not necessary but fun nonetheless).
After they got dressed, we started the photoshoot inside their apartment, utilizing the large windows to create beautiful and natural portraits.
We stopped on our way down to the lobby at the banquette hall that wasn’t being used. We attempted to go outside but due to the harsh winds and 2pm sun – it wasn’t ideal.
Inside though, we were able to capture some pretty cool shots utilizing a reflector to bounce the sun back on their faces. The views were pretty spectacular.
When I entered the lobby of the Ritz that morning, I noticed a wall that caught my eye. It was this yellow/brown color and illuminated from the back – I definitely wanted to shoot in front of it. On our way out, we did.
We had hoped to take some great outdoor shots but due to the weather and freezing temperatures (it was below zero), we were only able to snap a few.
The location they really wanted to go to was Grand Central Terminal – and since it was inside, we headed there next. We decided to walk through the market which allowed for some great crowd shots and they two even got stopped by onlookers for some photos of their own.
Once out of the market and into the hustle and bustle of GCT, we got some great shots around some iconic NYC landmarks.
The moon that night was magnificent – a large, full. On our way back to the Ritz, I was able to snap this picture through the car window.
And although the Ritz Carlton – Battery Park doesn’t face east (which is where the moon was that night), Alyssa and Ed braved the cold for some great shots by the water. Love these!
And after a successful photoshoot, Alyssa and Ed headed back into their apartment to warm up.
